Sofie Edwards is a cinematographer, camera assistant, and photographer based in Richmond, Virginia. She recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema and a Minor in Creative Writing. She is happiest with a camera in her hands, relishing in the on-set experience and collaboration with others.
Her love for the camera began with still photography and BBC Earth docuseries binge sessions, and grew as she witnessed the connecting capabilities of watching films in theaters. She approaches all mediums of storytelling visually, viewing cinematography as a means of creative telepathy that can represent the indescribable internal aspects of the human experience.
Her work has been showcased at the 2024 Virginia Emerging Filmmakers Festival and the 2022 and 2023 New Surge Film Festival
